This was 66 minutes of our life that we will not forget.

We had to write our goals on a piece of paper, write it in an empowering way that would motivate us to achieve. And then we had to hold on to the piece of paper for 66 minutes=1 minute representing 1 year of our life. And we had to focus on our goals, visualizing it to come true. And along the way the coaches went around to motivate us or act as distractions or obstacles that we may find along our life’s path.

This activity taught us first and foremost that when life is shaky, we just had to focus on our outcome. And that no matter what happened we always had to put our faith above our fears. And if our heart really wants something, it truly can be possible. If we do whatever it takes to make it happen. And that while in life we sometimes have to run our own race, we could always lean on one another for support, encouragement and the positive energy to go the distance.

THIS WAS THE ULTIMATE NOMAD CHALLENGE.

Half of us did the physical challenge. Half did the mental. The mental challenge was where each of us were given a certain picture and we had to connect the pages together in sequence without looking at each other’s pictures. If the sequence was wrong, or if we peeked, we started over. The physical challenge was to run a series of suicide or shuttle runs continously. We could not stop until the mental challenge is overcome.

This activity stretched us to the maximum. in a team, each of us can make a difference for all of us. Each of us matters to the whole result of the team. Together Everyone Achieves More. We had to each do our part to ensure the team succeeds.

And we learnt that by encouraging one another, by being an example to others, by showing lots of positive energy we can together overcome all forms of obstacles, challenges and limiting beliefs that may stop us from achieving what we can!

Ketupat Weaving is a simple activity yet a challenging one to muster. If you are persevering enough, have enough patience and keep at it, you will conquer it and be a ketupat master! Same to other challenges in life. Some keep getting at you and you feel easily discouraged. Just remember sometimes there are steps to be done ( just like in making a ketupat). Once you muster the simple small steps, you can be a master of the challenges in your life too!

At night we played the game of DEAL OR NO DEAL. This was a fun way to acquire items and goods we need to bring for our NOMADIC RACE! There were food vouchers, ration cards, water bottles and black market items like coke and tidbits. Then we had to go earn more tokens by investing in the stock market or wait for the government to issue shares(this was the most fun part as we scrambled for the tokens that were thrown on the floor!)

It was a fun night where we learnt how to make decisions as a team, to work when it is a bit chaotic and to set our priorities straight:)

The Race will spread over 3 days, a stretch that will get you to discover the best of yourselves, that will make the impossible possible. Believe=Achieve. Whatever you believe you can achieve. So even though this race will be stretching and difficult, turn those difficulties into opportunities. For you to shine. For you to show up excellently. And for you to have fun. So have high hopes for yourselves and say that I CAN DO IT! and look forward to not just a good camp but an AWESOME experience!
